Juliette Lewis - nothing to hide.

Juliette Lewis (on tour until Christmas promoting her new CD Terra Incognita) gave great face time to George Stroumboulopoulos on his Canadian talk show The Hour.  Let me start off by saying that this woman (40 years old) is one hundred percent hot.  She not only looks gorgeous, she seems to have miraculously stopped aging — looking more youthful than women half her age.  The leather jacket, the diva boots, the black gloves, the big flower, the blood-stained red lipstick:  hot, hot, hot.  Okay, next.

Watching the evolution of Juliette Lewis (@juliettelewis)  from wild child actress to wild woman musician who rocks the mic hard in concerts (and is as witty, funny and relevant as ever in interviews), makes me think that she can do no wrong.  She has managed to do what many actors only wish they can do.  Rather than be trapped by Hollywood and pigeonholed into a role and a lifestyle that is pre-ordained, sexist and destructive, Lewis broke free and spread her creative wings.  We’re all the better for it.

Stroumboulopoulos (who reminds me of a more charismatic Carson Daly), is just easy going enough to put the giddy Lewis at ease to have a revealing, wholly-engaging conversation (even when he is putting her on the the hot seat with a cute game that tests her improv acting skills).  I could be a little off-base, but Lewis seems to be flirting with him here.  He’d be smart to be her groupie – it would be the time of his life.

A hardcore rocker chick known for playing roles of pure insanity (including a mass murder) and for dating many of Hollywood’s hottest leading men (including Brad Pitt), there are plenty of confessions Ms. Lewis could cop to that would make God blush.  But when Lewis admits that she had a huge crush on Clint Eastwood when she was a little girl (having played with his children on movie sets), rather than feel jipped, you just like her even more.  Juliette Lewis loved Dirty Harry when most kids her age were scared to death of him.   She was ierce even in elementary school.

“I had two incredible creative parents who let me nurtured my own fire… and they let me dream big.”

But she admits that it isn’t all easy.  After being clean from drugs for 13 years and having nothing to hide at this point in her life, she talks about the pain she endured giving birth to her latest CD with a new band.  She clearly struggled through this creative process and this tour is her celebration for having come through it all with grace.  Her laughter is like champaign bubbles.  Can anyone watch this interview and not want to laugh at life with her?
