Jon Stewart I was born with an adult head and a tiny body. Like a Peanuts character.

Oprah I finally realized that being grateful to my body was key to giving more love to myself.

Sam Rocks Well

There are two things I love: fashion and grammar. However, if I was forced to live in a totalitarian state where everyone had to wear a drab uniform and use Newspeak, I’d quickly default to my back-up love, science fiction. Most people think of high flying space ships and green women when they think of sci fi, but the best science fiction always has the aliens and technology merely to get things going and set the tone; the best science fiction is always about the human experience.

Sam Rockwell is probably one of the least appreciated actors out there, being known for doing odd ball characters and stories with drama and humanity. He broke out in 1996 with Box of Moon Light. Sci fi folks may recognize him from the unexpectedly good Galaxy Quest.

He’s stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Thursday night to talk about Moon, which epitomizes what I think of as great science fiction. Sure it’s got the gizmos and sleekness of the future, but really it’s a story about one man who is very, very alone. Who hasn’t felt like they’ve been trapped on a Moon base alone for years before?

Rockwell talks about his ineptness with technology – he fools people with catchy techno-jargon like “I’m going to Youtube that shit!” I suppose the best artists were always a bit kooky.

I’m going to get off of Sam now, so check out Moon when you can. Rockwell is also in the new Gentlemen Broncos, playing two versions of the same character.
