Hosted by Al Roker (@alroker), this segment of NBC’s Today Show (@todayshow) is informative and engaging. The format has a panel of financial experts taking questions from viewers from viewers via Skype, email and phone calls and dolling out advice to live by in these financially crippling times.
The subject of this particular “Money 911″ (August 19th) asks whether taking out a home equity line of credit is ever the right strategy for paying off credit card debt (as if the mortgage market imploding and plunging the country into near-Depression last year wasn’t enough of an answer)?.
The panelists include:
- financial editor, author Jean Chatzky
- CNBC’s Carmen Wong Ulrich (@onthemoney)
- FinishRich.com’s David Bach(@authordavidbach)
They also discuss franky the healthcare plan (David Bach admits the bill is so big and complicated, nobody has read through the entire thing or understands what they’ve read). Good viewer questions and seemingly sound advice from the panel of experts (of course, I’m financially strapped so I may not be the best person to judge the panel).
Today should do this segment at least twice a week (unfortunately, in these difficult times, there is no shortage of people in financially desperate situations looking for advice).
