Joe Scarborough, the other cast of characters on “Morning Joe” (@joeNBC) and a panel of political pundits feast at the news buffet that is the announcement by Sarah Palin (@AKGovsarahpalin), the day before the 4th of July, that she would be resigning from her position as Govonor of Alaska.
Needless to say, the conversation is full of pure speculation, utter disbelief and a few pot shots (it is Sarah Palin, after all). The discussion between the panel was a fair representation of what every other journalist and political pundit in the media has expressed over the last couple of days. The question on everyone’s mind: “What was she thinking?!”
The Panel:
- Joe Scarborough (host of “Morning Joe“) – defends the notion that she “quit” but is dumbfounded by her press conference was “jumbled” and “frantic” (how about “incoherent” too?).
- Mika Brzezinski (co-host of “Morning Joe” – seems completely confused by Palin’s move but thinks it sign of Palin’s strength, not her weakness. (@morningmika)
- Chuck Todd (Chief White House Correspondent for NBC News) - thinks she dropped the ball if she wants to be president (especially in 2012) but clearly has a future.
- Pat Buchanan (conservative political commentator) – she’s out as president but he thinks she’s clearly “had enough” of the abuse from the media. (@patbuchanan)
- Donny Deutsch (former ad exec and host of “The Big Idea with DonnyDeutsch”) - offers a simpler, black and white analysis, “She’s just a quitter!” (the rest of the panel promptly eats him alive) (@donny_deutsch)
